Ella the Italian Greyhound Puppy - Update
-
by Judi on Jul 29, 2008
Ella, our adorable little fawn colored italian greyhound puppy, has been with us for about 2 weeks now (has it been that long!?). She was just 2 days shy of her 8th week birthday anniversary when we drove to the breeders house to pick her up. Amazingly, I was able to hold my silence for 4 weeks and not tell the boys about her… and I didn’t spill the beans until we were ready to walk out the door to get her. :) Even Bob was impressed…
All the dogs greeted her excitedly when we got home.. It took a couple hours before we even made it in the back door because there is just so much to do in the yard and on the porch.. I told the boys that within a week, she’d be running around the house as if she’d been born here - and that was no over-estimate either.
Ella has everyone of us wrapped about her cute little, white tipped tail.
Within a week, she knew where her bed was (in my spot, on the bed) and had also figured out a way to climb up there. When it’s bedtime, she chews her nylabone until she’s sleepy and then snuggles with Tege or Ry until I’m back in bed too.
I leave food out for the dogs all the time. Sky, who has possessive issues about her food. She’s not mean about it, but will growl.. so she has her own “spot” and bowl to eat from, while the whippet and the iggies share 3 bowls and the area… when Sky sneaks to eat the skinny-dogs (a group name for them, here) food, miss Ella will bark and bark at her.. At first I thought it was a fluke.. but no.. Ella does it all the time now. “Listen here you big dog, that’s not yours, I heard momma say so!”
Ella loves everyone.. Ry tries to carry her all the time - which she seems to enjoy most of the time..
When I got Enzo, my boy IG, I wanted a boy because I’d read they are more affectionate and cuddley than the female (I question that now).. It was something I was really needing at the time.. and he is.. such a love - he is what made me fall in love with the breed. Ella just bumped that love and adoration up several notches. Right from the day we brought her home, she seemed to identify with me being her “person”.. she loves the whole family (dogs and cats included), will snuggle and play with everyone.. but *I* am Momma..
See more Ella pictures… and here’s one that made picture of the day on Purina’s website:
