My! You have such lovely veins!

This is what the nurse said to me yesterday at the hospital. I have crohns disease and had to have an abscess drained. With was little information I was given, I was left to assume this was suppose to be a simple Same Day situation.. ha.. but that’s the other story.. this is about my lovely veins.

The nurse who is going to give me a heplock so they can easily inject a sedative, tells comments on how nice my veins are. To which I busted out laughing since I’d just read vampire books, the first 3 books of the Twilight series and the night before finished Melissa De La Cruz’s Blue Bloods book.. to hear this nurse talk so lovingly about my veins was just too funny.

But given how the day had started and what it was looking like, I should have know.. I should have kept my mouth shut. But no, I had to tell her thanks and that no one, and I mean, never has anyone had a hard time getting in to my veins.. ever. She told me what a rough morning she’d had.. I did knock on wood.. but it wasn’t enough.

She stuck me in the wrist, which was terrible.. and looking at things now, she wasn’t even close! Then she said she should have just done it in my hand where she first thought…. so she pokes me there and my vein blows out.. Now I have a huge purple green bruise on my hand. So she switches to the other hand and finally gets it.

Tells me that after the procedure they’ll put a warm compress on it to help keep it from bruising worse (um.. hey.. it’ll be a while, why not a warm compress now?.. one for my hand, one for my pain?). Never did get a warm compress. I should have known the rest of the day was going to be crummy.

Introducing the Entrecard Toolbar

Entrecard introduced their newest feature… the entrecard toolbar. You can easily see your credits, how many drops you’ve made, your favorites and you can quickly browse all categories… plus, you can even purchase advertising right from the toolbar.

Now, I’m not one for toolbars.. really, I have the minimum on my browsers.. just don’t want the clutter. But, I was game to give it a try.. and I like it, I like it! I really do! It is So easy to use.

Dog Days of Summer

August 1st and while it’s been hot this summer, we know the dog days of summer are really here… hot, humid and slow… The plants need water, the grass doesn’t want to grow (ok by me!), the bugs are out in full force.. kids are running through sprinklers, playing in the pool..

And all I want to do is be lazy under the fan…. the more fans the better. Our little brick oven, er, house doesn’t have air conditioning and every year we suffer through the heat. We do have 2 portable a/c units that are pretty good, but they are so bulky and when we use them we have issues with the electricity (tripping the circuits).. so we are trying desperately to not use them… but I don’t know if I’ll last the whole month.

One issue we usually have has been dramatically reduced though. I bought several yards of mosquito netting and tacked it up around our back porch… 2 panels per side. It’s like our own little cabana, without the big pool. We leave the french doors open all day long, so the porch, during the summer, actually adds a very usable extra room for us. And with the netting up, we’re able to use it from the time we get up until hubby decides he’s ready for bed. We pull the netting back during the day when the bugs aren’t biting.. and let them drop after 5.

Since I work at an emporium (i.e., flea market), I found a nice square coffee table for cheap, and we put some comfy chairs around it to make a nice “living” space. I love our yard in the summer - just could do without the high heat and humidity.. 70’s and low 80’s.. that would be ideal.. oh, and no biting bugs. Then I may be more inclined to go out and laze around on the hammock (I think I need more mosquito netting for it!). I got this hammock at Pier One several years ago for Bob for Father’s Day.. it’s such a pretty fabric.. we just don’t make nearly enough use of it. I think I need to leave the bushes there to really grow up and make a little private nook .. wink, wink… and block out that house beside us.

What is wrong with Casey Anthony?

Good God.. what is wrong with a mother who’s daughter is missing and doesn’t report it? Healthy parents… they lose sighting of their kid at a playground and their hearts start pounding and skipping beats until they get them in view again. Yet this woman goes on with life as usual and doesn’t bother to report it.. doesn’t freak out?

The media can sure do a number on someone for the hype of a story so I am not saying I believe everything I am reading (though admittedly, it’s hard to be objective) about the whole case of missing Caylee Anthony.. but all things aside, when you think about your child not being where you expect her to be and then not doing something about it, something is seriously wrong.

The 2 (almost 3) year old girl is missing for 31 days before finally being reported to police by, not the mother, but the grandmother. Why didn’t the mother report it? Because she was conducting her own investigation. That’s right.. the amateur sleuth thought she’d play around with her daughters safety and well-being… well… according to her story.

Though, according to Casey’s own mother, she smelled decomposition in the trunk of the car (and a cadaver dog smelled it too!?).. So maybe there isn’t much for Casey to investigate.

Then, pictures surfaced today showing Casey Anthony out partying (or was she playing detective working?) just days after Caylee went missing.. and she looks like she’s having a grand time too.

She was defensive and foul mouthed in phone call transcripts from jail to her family, wants to keep the public from seeing any more pictures, videos and information about phone calls being made, requests her bond be lowered (facts) and is upset because the police want to “pin” this on her and they aren’t listening to the information she’s giving them, saying all she’s done is lie to them (from the news reports)…

Regardless… something is wrong with this woman.
