Ohhhh you shouldn't have - you mentioned food - now I have to raid the fridge. :)

Freezing fresh fruit also can save you big bucks when fruit isn't in season - or even when it is. The other day I was looking in the frozen foods section to buy some mixed fruit for smoothies and the price was higher for the frozen fruit than it was for the fresh fruit - so by buying (or better yet picking fruit locally) fresh fruit when it is in season and freezing it for later you can actually save quite a bit of money.
