Easy Homemade Spaghetti Sauce
- by Judi on Aug 3, 2006
Tomato Sauce, Spaghetti Sauce, Marinara… whatever you call it, here’s an easy recipe to make it at home.
3 TBSP olive oil (I use rice bran oil)
1 large, chopped onion
1 TBSP chopped garlic or 3 cloves
2 28 oz cans of diced tomatoes, unflavored
1/2 tsp dried oregano OR dried thyme OR dried cilantro
salt and pepper
Heat oil over medium heat.
Add onion and garlic. Cook until softened.
Add undrained cans of tomatoes. Add the spice(s) of choice.
Simmer. Stir occasionally.
Like meaty sauce? Here’s how I do it:
Brown 1 lb of meat (ground beef, italian sausage, or other) first. Drain.
Begin directions as above.
Once the onions and garlic have cooked, add the already browned meat.
Continue with above directions.
Or just top the noodles and sauce with meat. Either way, yum!
