Wicked

  • by Judi on May 22, 2006

Took my oldest daughter to the book store several weeks ago - she was after a journal.  While there, I saw a book called “Wicked - The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West”.  I read the cover and thought ‘wow, this sounds good!’.  I put it down and thought I’d do like usual and come home, read some reviews and see how it did.

At the last minute, I grabbed it, paid and left.

Some books start slow.  I always give myself about 75 pages or so before I can say for sure a book isn’t as good as I hoped.  Usually, the book will come through, pulling me into the story.  Enough at least, that I can’t just put it down and move on.

After about 40 pages or so, I did read some reviews at Amazon - it now has 4 stars and over 1000 reviews.  It seems I’m with the minority though.  I just can’t get into it.  I’m over a hundred pages now, and invested enough time and thought into the story, I’ll go ahead and finish it… but I’ve definitely had better reads… even more interesting “bad” reads…
