No, cheryl! Only feed hummingbird a nectar made of 1:4 sugar / water. Anything else could make them sick. And no coloring added either.

Best of luck!

Hi Shirley - are you hummers back? I wonder if maybe they were preparing for a storm. I'd suggest making sure your feeders are clean and sanitized with fresh nectar in them. If your feeder has mold or your nectar is getting gross, I'm sure the hummingbirds will back off some.

They do need to eat often, so it may be you're just missing them when they stop in. Figure about every 15 minutes on average you'll see one (or more).

Make sure your feeders are in good locations - not low to the ground where predators (cats!) may sneak up on them and space your feeders out around your yard or porch giving several birds the options of where to settle for a drink.

Good luck!

Can you please tell me why my humming birds have disapeared a day ago? Is there a known reason why they do this? It is very hot here, 90 degrees plus. I love watching them, and sure do miss them.
Please let me know if you can what is going on.

Thanks so much----Shirley
