I am the proud owner of not just one but TWO Toshiba Laptops. Both have had their small share of repairs, but they are great. The only problem is with the A75 that has the shutdown/overheating problem.

I have discovered that it is just a problem with the fans. After a while of being used they start spinning off center and slow down the air flow. I replaced the fans and it works great.

One of my friends had bought the same laptop as mine, and his overheating problem was due to the fact that he had the airflow blocked when he put it on his lap. Word of advice to some of you, that may be the same problem. Also, try getting one of those laptop cooling pads for $20.

If you really need to get it repaired, and your warranty is still active, find a 4 or 5 star Toshiba certified, laptop repair center.

For those of you who have had problems with Toshibas, thats too bad, but they really do make great laptops.

Oh, and if you really want to get a new laptop that isn't toshiba... get HP or Acer...never dell (they only have good desktops) or Sony.

I'm another Toshiba a75 owner with chronic overheating and shutting down problems. Now the last two service calls have included the "blue screen of death" which makes the PC inoperable. I'm wondering whether anyone has filed a lawsuit separate from the class action, because I received a notice that it would cover either $25 towards a new Toshiba or a one-year warranty extension, which is outrageous.
