Rainbow Playset

Ryland’s first birthday has come and gone. Quiet, at home day. Just a couple gifts from grandma. He was starting a cold so we opted to skip cake and just relax as much as possible. Not an easy thing for me, as I’d been given a large stressor to deal with all day. But after several hours of aggravation, I decided it was time to let it go. Anyway…..
We have been eyeing playsets for quite a few years now. We decided that now was the time, an ideal time in fact, to give in and get what we wanted. One of our favorite places is Rainbow Playsets – we had grandparents chip in to help us get the set we wanted…. not the biggest, but not the smallest. It’s one we can grow in to, but will get plenty of good use right now too. We opted for the Monster Clubhouse Pkg.II .
We spent the weekend laying down 11 yards of playground mulch. The scheduled date for installation was for Thursday. Much to our excitement, both Bob and I as well as Tege and Emilee, they called to change that date to Tuesday – today. We were so excited!
Here is our yard – ready and waiting for a big playset. That white dome thing in the background is a greenhouse.. right next to the untended garden that won’t be bearing any good veggies this year… maybe next though.

Norm and Jason show up close to 10 a.m. or so. They are able to back their van right up to the mulched area and start laying out the pieces.

It doesn’t take long for things to start taking shape:

I had to leave for an appointment (Cassie and the orth0 – I headed down to the Nursery for a few plants)… so I had Bob take some pictures for me. When I got home, it seemed some big progress was being made. It was cute though, to see Bob & Tege sitting on the porch, pushing Ry in his swing and Em too, all watching Norm and Jason build our “Clubhouse”.

The bar goes up:

The slide goes on:

Swings are put in place:

When all was done, Tege immediately climbed up to the top and gave me a wave:

We opted for the picnic table underneath as none of us are big on sandboxes. It’s a nice size table. Bob and I were both surprised that it’s even big enough that all six of us could sit there for dinner. Though, when the boys get bigger, it would start to get snug.
One last photo:

I ordered a steering wheel as an accessory… I noticed though, when they were getting the pieces out of the truck, that they had actually brought a ship wheel. The past few days, Tege has been talking about our hammock in the yard being a boat.. so we didn’t mention the different wheel, thinking it was going to be ok with Tege… sure enough, he has dubbed the clubhouse his Ship. He thinks he has some interest in sleeping in it with Daddy one night…. we shall see. FWIW, I won’t complain about having the bed to myself and Ry. :)
